yo creo que el hombre es de Mexico. El entro el cuatro y estuvo atras de la mujer y dijo a ellla... "jota" o "joto". Creo es jota por la razon que es una mujer y no un hombre.

Susan, he only said "jota"? Jota is a dance in Spain. We need the whole sentence .

I have heard the word joto used in Mexico for homosexual. If he called her a jota I imagine he was calling her a lesb*an. [jota: jot, bit (no entiendo ni jota means "I don't understand a word of it.") or (no se ve ni jota means you "can't see a thing".] vicente Last edited by vicente : 03-18-2008 at 06:27 PM. |

in the "diccionario de jergas" I found the same vicente mentions. no feminine... |

"JOTA" definitely means 2 things
(1) The letter J (2) A spanish(from SPAIN!!!) dance Mexican slang Means gay in a demeaning way- kind of like "faggot" I don't think he did it as an insult(calling her *******) because the slang doesn' include the femimine word, unless he was a definite real idiot. hope it helps! |

Susan Durham said "he only said "jota". No sentence. This experience was relayed to me and she was angry because she thought is meant something bad."
Well, Susan's friend thought it was something bad and I'd have to agree with her. If a Mexican man walked up behind her and said only the one word (jota) then what else could he have meant? I don't think he was asking her to dance. We need a Mexican to tell give us an opinion on the use of joto and jota as slang. Where is CarlosRoberto when we need him? ![]() |

We will really never know what the man actually said or meant. All any of us can do is form opinions, which are all valid.
