    Default Bagoneta or Vagoneta

I can't figure out if the slang my granddaddy used to tell me was Bagoneta or Vagoneta. It basically means slacker or lazy person. He also used to tell us, "anda a laburar al puerto," which basically means go work on the docks I think. Anyway, it's my user name, so if it's incorrect I'd like to know.

Almost forgot, I'm specifically referring to Argentinian or South American slang.

    Thanks...

I forgot to add the links. Sorry. I'm all scatterbrained tonight. Here are some links some people may find useful. \

This yahoo answer refers to a word, "Bago," which basically means lazy person but it is Dominican, not Argentinian or S. American.

And this link is to a specifically Argentinian slang website which lists a word, "bagarto," which is defined as follows:
bagarto [m] 1 alt. form of bagayo; 2 [rare] a burden, a problem left on one's hands, used e. g. of hospital patients who are dumped in E. R. in a very bad condition.

So, I'm guessing bagoneta is correct. Am I right?

    Hey Social Critique,

I've heard that some time ago, as it comes from the word "vago" (lazy) I'd say the word could be "Vagoneta". But I feel it is not an accepted word, not even a word of common use...which could be discussed..

    Any other ideas?

    N.

I think "vagoneta" is used only in Argentina, whereas "vago" is common use. "bago" is not correctly spelt.
AS for "bagarto", in Arg slang it's used to refer to an unattractive person.

I agree with Nicolas. Vagoneta is from the word "vago" and is a slang used to call someone lazy.

I've heard "vagoneta" in Spain used with the same signification. I think it's used when someone dare not say "vago", whichs sounds much more agressive.

It refers to a lazy person, a slacker...for VAGO in Spanish, thus vagoneta. It is used in Puerto Rico also.
