Hi Izzy, is it a national department, or something like that? Sometimes you don't translate names...
A suggestion is to check in the page whether they have an English version.

With Veronica
Direccion de Obras Sanitarias must be an institution, and generally you don´t translate it, you can provide an explanation in English between brackets but depending on the context... it might be even clear in the context... ![]() |

As others have rightly said, this is country-dependent. I would translate it as "Water and Sanitary Sewer Services Board Management."

given that within english speaking countries, the states/shires/councils/counties all have different names for the same thing, in general i never bother to search for an exact match from the clients locality, I just translate the function as literally as possible, but use an organization name common in the locality for the function... thus depending on the place i would just put Sanitary Works Board.... if a big doc at the first occurance I always parenthathize the native acronym eg. (Direccion de Obras Sanitarias - DOS) and use that from therein...
i think eds right with board... this must be a few levels down within any health department Damien |

oh... and if you want to use the Direccion more literally, sorry iggy but address is way off track, probably best with Directorate or for higher/highest levels General Directorate.
