What about "The pipe was curved to avoid water leakage"?

That would be a great translation if we were referring to a "derrame" (leakage), However, if we just want to prevent " el paso del agua", then the term water flow would be more appropriate. I guess the wisest thing to do is to take a pick at the rest of the context in order to make the most suitable choice.
