Default fianza

Hola!
Alguien sabe cual es el término correspondiente en inglés para una "fianza". No es en el sentido de lo que uno paga para salir de la cárcel, sino lo que paga la persona que sale de Garante, por ejemplo en una compra.

Gracias!!!

Are you referring to a deposit? Something paid to guarantee that in a sale, the merchandise will be held or delivered and the full amount paid upon pickup or delivery?

Depends on the type of transaction. If the fianza is for the purpose of ensuring performance, such as required by a contract, or the safe delivery of goods, such as an international shipment, then bond, or surety bond, is correct.

tHANK YOU ALL!
I don't really have more details. My brother is a lawyer and he needed to know. At first I suggested deposit, but he said that it wan't the word he was looking for..
He's the type of person that thinks that a translator is a walking dictionary, you know?

Thanks for the help!!
