Hi - just popped up to ask a (probably very basic and simple for you!) question.
I work with some Portuguese children in school and I would like to mark some of their work with Portuguese AND English comments. I am TOTALLY hopeless with languages (brain just isn't wired in that way - I do try but my memory is terrible and they all snigger at my pronounciation!!)....have asked a Portuguese speaker to translate a few words/phrases for me, and have looked at on line translation sites but they have both come back with completely different looking translations.....so a bit stuck! Anyone give me a few basic marking phrases? Along the line of; Well Done Good Work Great effort Excellent You have worked very hard today/you have worked well today/I am pleased with your work ...Plus any others you may think of/are commonly used in Portugal. How are you?? The Portuguese from Brazil and from Portugal is almost the same, as I'm from Brazil I will write the Brazilian way: Well Done - Muito Bom! Good Work - Bom trabalho! Legal (in Portuguese) vs Legal (in Spanish)
I don't speak Portuguese but when I was in Guarda do Embaú last summer it suprised me to learn that "legal" in Brazilian Portuguese means "good" or "very good"....is this right? Thanks for your help!!

"Legal" has been used for years in Brazil. "Bagual" is used somewhat in the South. "Trilegal" and "bacana" have fallen from favor.
