    Default ¿permititr que el cliente corrija tu traducción?

    ¿Es esto posible?? Mi cliente me corrige incluso el estilo de mi traducción. Me parece bien que corrija la parte técnica porque él es el entendido realmente. ¿Qué os parece?

    This shouldn't happen, but unfortunately there are many clients (proofreaders/revisors working for them) who do that.
    I think that correcting translator's style isn't an ethic procedure. When I've a proofreading I'm always alerted by my client or agency to not interfere with stylistics (unless I see a critical point which needs to be changed), and I keep and comply with those instructions.
    I've discussed this issue with some colleagues too, and I was told that they do that for some reasons: show to the client that they worked closely on the revision, and sometimes in worse situations they do that to "steal" us the job/client.
    You're saying it was your client who corrected your translation "flow"; it's something that happened to me too once, but in the end I've found out that it wasn't my client, but someone else... someone I believe didn't have even a qualification in translation!
    I'm not saying that this could happen to you, but we should always ask for any explanation from our clients in this situation, and then give them our feedback on the matter.

    Bueno, en mi caso, siempre me gusta trabajar en estrecha relación con el cliente. Es decir, cada cliente es particular y tiene sus preferencias, gustos, necesidades, etc., y creo que nosotros los traductores, al brindarles el servicio de traducción, debemos tenerlas en cuenta. Al fin y al cabo, son ellos los que van a usar nuestro texto y quienes deben sentirse satisfechos con la traducción. Es como cuando nos hacemos confeccionar un vestido por un diseñador o una modista: el profesional puede sugerirnos el diseño principal, pero nosotros haremos modificaciones al diseño según nuestro gusto, y el profesional debe realizarlos independientemente del gusto personal.
    Por supuesto que hay límites, y sucede cuando un cliente pretende cambios que son incorrectos. En esos casos hay que advertírselo.

    Me parece válida la corrección de estilo sólo cuando el cliente tiene un Manual de estilo y lo entrega al traductor antes de hacer el trabajo.

    Por mi parte, en los trabajos de proofreading, revisión o edición, sólo me meto con la terminología, los errores de traducción y detalles vitales.

    Vamos: si se trata de corregir estilo habría que rehacer toda traducción que llegue a nuestras manos.

    Si el cliente tiene tiempo enviándote trabajo, debería ser hora de que se diera cuenta que debe darte indicaciones específicas sobre el estilo antes de empezar un nuevo proyecto.

    P.D. ¿El cliente es una agencia? Probablemente la corrección venga de un traductor que trate de lucirse con su trabajo y el Project Manager sólo te esté pasando las notas sin siquiera saber qué es lo que dice el texto.
    Si el cliente es directo, me pregunto si no será uno de esos que creen que saben traducir y acaban por arruinar el trabajo.
