requirements for translation companies?
Greetings,
I have worked as an in house translator for over 7 years and have done a limited amount of freelance translation as well as simultaneous interpretation (English into Spanish). Now I would like to establish myself as a freelance translator.
Before sending mass emails including my resume and cover letter, I would like to know which computer programs would translation companies expect freelancers to master. For instance, I have never used machine translation programs. If I don’t mention that I use them, am I significantly diminishing my chances? Also, I am proficient in Word for PC and Mac, Internet, Adobe, but that’s it. What others are an absolute must?

Trados have some interesting tutorials
You can try a demo, and see the tutorials, and then you can practice with some files you have... (word, excel, power point are some of the most required...)

The best translation company that i had ever known is the U.S. translation company with unique, demanding, languages service requirements they are the professional translation companies. They also provide spanish to english translation services and even for business both the private and government agencies privide these services.
