    Default Bokmål and Nynorsk

    Hello, guys,

Does anybody know the difference between Norwegian Bokmål and Nynorsk?

    I do!
Bokmål is the main form of Norwegian, which is used of about 80% of the population, and Nynorsk is used by the rest. They differ quite a bit, but are so similar that people using bokmål can understand most of Nynorsk and vica versa. Everyone learn both in school.

It's a long story, but in short, Bokmål is a derivation of Danish, while Nynorsk was created later as a means of making a written language more similar to spoken Norwegian, especially for people from elsewhere than Oslo.

Thanks, Nabyl! It seems that Norway has over 20 dialects...
