Hallo there. I'm kind of curious to know who your favourite all-time vocalists are. No specific music genre intended here, simply a list of vocalists who, in their prime, got to you more than others through their power, vocal range, uniqueness, versatility, and ability to convey emotion. I've listed my favourite five in descending order, plus the bands they've been part of sorted alphabetically (I may have missed some), with those in italics being their current ones:
Rob Halford Fight / Halford / Hiroshima / Judas Priest / Two Freddie Mercury Freddie Mercury / Queen Ralf Scheepers F.B.I. / Gamma Ray / Primal Fear / Tyran' Pace Ian Gillan Black Sabbath / Deep Purple / Episode Six / Gillan & Glover / Gillan & Rakintzis / Ian Gillan / The Bolland (Bros) Project / The Javelins Bono Vox U2 I'd like to see what vocalists your lists would consist of. Name one, two, three, four, five, ten, twenty-five, or as many as you want, and the bands they've all been part of, only if you feel like. Cheers! Ariel |

Hello!!! What a difficult list to make, man... I'll name my favourite vocalists (in order of preference), but only the bands that made them famous, just to save some time =P
Thom Yorke Radiohead Tony Kakko Sonata Arctica Ed Vedder Pearl Jam Freddie Mercury Queen Billy Corgan Smashing Pumpkins I'm leaving so many out of the list, like Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Tarja Turunen (Nightwish / Solo Albums), Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) and Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), just to name a few Greetings!! |

At the risk of being cheesy and old-fashioned, hehehe!
Male Vocalists: Nat King Cole - Billy Joel - Freddy Mercury (we all agree on this one) - Marvin Gaye - Stevie Wonder - 1970's Michael Jackson - Paul Carrack - David Gates - Robert Plant Female: Karen Carpenter (above all the rest) - Ella Fitzgerald - Streisand - Patsy Cline - LeAnn Rimes - Sarah Mc Lachlan - Christina Aguilera - Alison Krauss - Joni Mitchell You may or may not like my choices but these people can really really sing and they each have their own style. Vicki - stuck in the 70's and 80's |

I'd have to say:
Eddie Vedder: Pearl Jam (his vocal range is more limited than others' but my god, that voice! anything he sings sounds sooo well!) Mike Patton: Mr Bungle, Faith No More, Phantomas (I have heard that guy do literally whatever he wants with his voice... in some songs I didn't even think it was he who was singing. He doesn't only have an amazing vocal range and quality, but also a wide variety of tones of voice). Axl Rose: L.A. Roses, Guns n' Roses and Guns n' Roses (jeje -I know, you either love his singing or you hate it, but in the last record he proves he can still sing. He goes from a tone to the next with no effort at all). Bruce Dickinson: Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson (from the technical point of view, he is perfect... he is no longer what he used to be, but god he can still sing).
