I don't want to be misunderstood, but I think Deep Purple's come back proves how poor the music industry is these days... and also speaks about the quality of their music. One of these days Guns n' Roses will make a come back (keeping my fingers crossed... and considering how Velvet Revolver on one hand and Axl on the other are doing, I wouldn't be surprised)

It's not that Deep Purple made a comeback... the band has been to Argentina almost twice per year in the last 3 o 4 years... they never left, but they never released new material either.
I think the music industry is not that poor, but is changing. Media has transformed the industry, and so did internet, itunes and the mp3 format. Everyone with a blog or a space can develop a music career. And everyone with an internet connection gets to listen any kind of music from any part of the globe. In times like these, where young people can listen to old music, it's reasonable for old bands to come and play for their new fans. PS: I've been to the Velvet Revolver show last year and it rocked!!! The crowd went crazy and so did I, even though I didn't like the band in the first place ![]() |

I agree with Ezequiel, I don't think the music industry is poor at all! Although I am not a Deep Purple fan, I think they contributed a lot to the music from that era and are constantly gaining new fans. While the music industry is constantly changing and evolving, people still appreciate "the classics" from their era.

Of course they did, they are heavy metal pioneers!
The music industry is definitely hip-hop oriented, leaving little room for true musicians to shine and have their first break. That's the problem. |
