    Default "Me pica el bagre"

    Hola!!
Por curiosidad nada más, alguien sabe de donde salió esta frase y si tiene algún equivalente en inglés? No creo que "The catfish is biting" sea una buena opción, no?

"De onde salió", I don't know, but as far I know, I guess it means "I'm starving/hungry". I don't know if this is the meaning that you're looking for...

    Laura

    Bel

    Hi again,

Now that I'm reading mariabelen, I found out that "bagre" has got another meaning (I'm sorry, I'm speaking about the meaning in my own language, Portuguese). The translation from Spanish "me pica el bagre" into Portuguese means (ter fome/tener hambre) but it can be translated as "o peixe (bagre) está morder/está a picar (the fish is biting).
Well, maybe this is not a great contribution, because I'm giving you an example from a Portuguese perspective...

el termino "picar" viene del pique de los peces cuando muerden el anzuelo, por ende si lo pican los peces es que tienen hambre ... yo creo que es tan simple como eso .. gente de puerto que toma esa expresión cotidiana para decir que ellos mismos tiene hambre. Que les parece?
