Por curiosidad nada m�s, alguien sabe de donde sali� esta frase y si tiene alg�n equivalente en ingl�s? No creo que "The catfish is biting" sea una buena opci�n, no?

"De onde sali�", I don't know, but as far I know, I guess it means "I'm starving/hungry". I don't know if this is the meaning that you're looking for...

he estado buscando el origen de esta frase sin tener demasiada suerte para encontrar el origen de esta frase.
S� que proviene del lunfardo, pero no logro encontrar cu�ndo y d�nde se origin�.

No s� si ayudar� mucho, pero encontr� lo siguiente:

bagre. m. lunf. desus. Est�mago. [El DRAE da, entre otras, la definici�n referida al pez de los r�os americanos, que tambi�n ofrece el DIHA, y, con marca de uso en la Argentina, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador y Uruguay, �mujer muy fea�. El diccionario de la AAL trae, adem�s, las locuciones picar el bagre �sentir hambre�, y ser un bagre �ser muy fea una persona�].

Debo confesar que ha pasado un buen rato hasta que logr� toparme con esta definici�n. Tal vez alguien con un poco m�s de experiencia en lo que respecta a la etimolog�a pueda ayudarnos a develar este misterio

Hi again,

Now that I'm reading mariabelen, I found out that "bagre" has got another meaning (I'm sorry, I'm speaking about the meaning in my own language, Portuguese). The translation from Spanish "me pica el bagre" into Portuguese means (ter fome/tener hambre) but it can be translated as "o peixe (bagre) est� morder/est� a picar (the fish is biting).
Well, maybe this is not a great contribution, because I'm giving you an example from a Portuguese perspective...

el termino "picar" viene del pique de los peces cuando muerden el anzuelo, por ende si lo pican los peces es que tienen hambre ... yo creo que es tan simple como eso .. gente de puerto que toma esa expresi�n cotidiana para decir que ellos mismos tiene hambre. Que les parece?
