Is "spoiler" translatable?
It's no doubt that we are all immersed (whether you want it or not) in this Avengers/GOT Era. That being said, there is one word with a major impact that comes back in almost every conversation or article: SPOILER.
I was going through many websites in French, Spanish, Italian, etc.... and they all use the word without translation.
Does anybody know where the Word come from? Are there translations (in any language you know of) for this?
Re: Is "spoiler" translatable?
I found "destripe" for the Spanish translation, but I have to say it does sound weird...
Re: Is "spoiler" translatable?
In Spanish, we can say "arruinar (el final)". It's always been used without the need of "spoil" or "destripar" -which is a too classy option.
Re: Is "spoiler" translatable?
Cuál sería el sustantivo? Arruino?
Dirías "alerta de arruino" para "Spoiler Alert"?
Re: Is "spoiler" translatable?
Los jóvenes usan directamente "spoiler alert", pero se le puede dar un giro para evitar el anglicismo. Se puede usar algo como "avances", "información del final de la serie" y cosas así.
Re: Is "spoiler" translatable?
Yo nunca traduzco esta palabra. En español ya hay muchos anglicismos que se volvieron muy populares, "spoiler" es uno de éstos.
