Hello all, I know some Spanish but I am the type that wants to make sure I am using it right. I work with some people that are Mexican who are helping me. I'd like to be familiar with the informal, "everyday" ways of speaking. "Como estas?" seems to be preferred, but I wonder about other ways to express this, like "How's it going?" or "What's new?" (and ways to answer these like "mas o menos.") Thanks - ![]() Also, for those who are familiar with this, I use the Im Translator online which is great, but it seems like it sometimes gives interpretations that are TOO literal, and changes the tense or person. And the "back translation" is a little confusing. Any thoughts? Last edited by Dabeed : 01-11-2008 at 04:39 PM. |

hi, Dabeed and kyshag, and welcome to the forum. that much said in this (Greeting to Newbies) section, I'd like to suggest to you to please start new threads in the right forum (i.e., English to Spanish translation) with your SOS messages, so those who can help you will find the questions to answer -and we all can benefit in the process!

Hola Dabeed my name is Carlos soy mexicano and I´m your friend as well, so I´ll give you some informal mexican expressions kind of slang. Another way to say "Cómo estás?" is something like "Que onda"(what´s up) and the answer could be "nooo nada" kind of "nothing"
