Question Cocina de gas?

Do you know if cocina a gas is more common in US Neutral Spanish than cocina de gas?
Thanks!

Default "a" and "de"

Doesn't "cocina a gas" mean "cook with gas (oven)" and "cocina de gas" mean "a gas oven"?

I'm not quite sure which one is used more here.

Default "cocina de gas" /"cocina a gas"

I think the correct spanish option is: "cocina de gas", because "a cas" is a galicism.
I hope it'd help you.

cocina de gas
cocina a gas

HI Mariana!
The correct term is "cocina a gas" i.e. a gas-working cooker.
If you say "cocina de gas" it means the cooker itslef is made up of gas, which is quite irreal and funny also:-)
Good luck!

Default a gas

Ana S. Mazía from Argentina is correct. The preposition "a" is a Galicism and should be avoided at all cost. Of the many Spanish style manuals, one of the cheapest and easiest to use is the Manual de español urgente of the Agencia Efe in Madrid. I quote:

Having said that, the phrase "cocina a gas" is problematic not only because of the Galicized preposition, but also because of the term "cocina." In the Southern Cone, cocina is a cooktop or a range; in Mexico, cocina is a kitchen.

I hope this helps,
Vero
