    No estoy 100% segura, pero bajar linea no es como "hablar mal", por asi decirlo?
    Yo la escuche mucho en el ambito politico y periodistico, por ejemplo, cuando le "bajan linea" al gobierno es cuando hablan mal o cuando "encubiertamente" lo critican...

    No se si servira de ayuda, espero que si! Sino al menos alguien me va a aclarar si estoy en lo correcto o no! :P

    Cuando se baja línea, hay una cierta orden implícita, no es una crítica o hablar mal de alguien...
    y de dónde vendrá la frase? digo, el origen...

    Mmm... Gise me parece que te estás confundiendo con "bajar caña" o "bajar la caña".

    O lo que tal vez escuchaste es que "el gobierno bajó línea a Fulanito". Ahí tiene sentido.

    Sí Analaura, a mí así me parecía. En inglés yo diría "The boss laid down the
    law." (He was saying "This is how it's going to be..."). "The boss drew the
    line there." (With that he was saying "There will be no more of this.)

    Y así tenemos nuestros órdenes...¿He entendido bien?

    Aqui encontre un link donde (se supone) explica a que se refiere esta expresion en argentina... No se que tan confiable sera, pero me suena bastante coherente...

    Hola gernt, Algunos diccionarios dirán que tiene significado religioso,
    y no más, pero el OED incluye también influencias políticas, etc.

    Yo siempre he usado la palabra en contexto más ancho...
