Default a lo dicho pecho

Hola

Muchas gracias

"A lo dicho pecho"

"Stick to one's guns"....................."True to one's word"

........................

"If I paid the bill I would have only 3,000 pesetas left for the rest of my stay, still I remained true to my word, and I put the 4,000 pesetas beneath his nose."

I had no idea what "a lo dicho pecho" meant,
and I'm happy that I've learned something again.

Elisitas, I want to tell you that we (my wife and I)
LOVE Corfu,
we've been there on holiday several times,
so I envy you a little (for living there!)...

Frank.

Frank.

I guess you meant "A lo hecho, pecho.", which is used when someone has acted or done something in the wrong way, basically concerning mistakes(perhaps he/she made a wrong decision) and, as a result, it is necessary to act with determination towards either a solution or just simple an acknowledgement of the mess.
It is nearly equivalent to say in English "What's done is done" or "No point crying over spilled milk."

Regards,

so here's another saying "a lo hecho, pecho"
...
I like your Chinese proverb even more :
"he who rides a tiger, cannot dismount"
(clearly)

Frank.

Saludos.

Hi, Frank, thanks for the kind message.

It may sound strange to you, but I envy you a little for living in Antwerp!
