Default ¡Esto no da para más!

    Hello!

I hope someone can help, I'm translating a news article about a political march into English and the people in the protest were shouting "¡Esto no da para más!" I understand the sense of it, but am drawing a blank when I try to think of a good translation.

    Thanks.

This is just the last straw!!

*Although, I'd like both of us to agree that the translation of an expression full of social annoyance like the one we're referring to, might have such an array of interpretations that a difficulty to reach a common ground-- concerning opinions-- is already underway. These people are protesting and more than one of them is really mad, in which case a good working knowledge of English slang will be required.

Maybe we can surely add : "This is it ! This is just the last straw!

    Suerte y éxitos,

I think "Enough is Enough!" is stronger for this headline... it shows you are fed up with it and it´s short...

It´s hard to guess what's exactly on the protesrter's mind; Sometimes I imterpret that expression as referred to a particular bad or unbearable situation.

I would translate it as "This (situation" can't get any worde" or "This (situation ) cannot longer be endured"

    Hope it helps !!!!

I agree with seeker... First thing that came to my mind: This is it!. Though I have to admit that the other opinions sound perfect. I think a native speaker opinion would be really useful here...

    Best regards!

Solo añadir que en España no significaría esto, ya que usamos "dar para más" según la definición que da la RAE.

    43. intr. Ser suficiente para algo. Su paciencia no dio para más

    O sea, el eslogan sería:

This is not enough. (cosa que en este coso no es acertado, ya que lo que quieren decir es justo lo contrario.)

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm going to go for "Enough is enough" because this is the most short and snappy phrase. Also, English is my native language, so I would say that could feasibly be a protest slogan.

    Thanks!!

Good choice victoriam! If English is your native language, so... You're the boss... hahaha
