It's these phrases that I thought I knew that cause me the most problems. And I've decided I really don't know dichos ambitos at all.

There are many different kinds of "�mbitos". What are you exactly talking about?

in this context, setting, aspect, areas

OK. Here's more. This is an essay on Frida Kahlo. I tried to translate it as "To illustrate the fact that in the first years of the 90s in said circles, unequivocal signs..." since the words "circulos artisticos" had already been used. But it can be translated a lot of ways. When I Google it, this same phrase pops up in a lot of contexts.

La excesiva comercialización que se ha estado llevando a cabo en los últimos dos decenios, ha conducido en México a un repudio casi irracional de la artista. En un artículo que conmemora cincuenta años de la muerte de Kahlo, publicado en 1994 en el Artnews, Judd Tully nota con evidente sorpresa la discrepancia entre el elogio internacional de la artista y la aversión que inspira en su país natal, particularmente en los círculos artísticos e intelectuales. Para ilustrar el hecho de que en los primeros años de los 90 en dichos ámbitos ya se percibían señales inequívocas de una creciente irritación con la pintora, Tully cita a Magda Carranza, en aquel entonces la curadora en el Centro Cultural/Arte Contemporáneo en el D.F.:

"artistic circles" seems perfect, but if you want a different word here I think you can use words like: group or society... what do you think?

Thank you. It's hard to understand how I could get so lost, but I first translated it "In the first years of the range of 90 under discussion" or something like that. The dictionaries were no help at all.
