The reason I ask if this is wrong, is because the dialogue is pointing toward the man in the picture as if he is saying this statement. Shouldn't he have said "Estámos almorzando." as he is talking himself, and the other woman in the picture?

If he is saying this, yes, you are right, it should be "estamos comiendo/almorzando"
