Default saying's with the word "raiz"?

I keep hearing certain sayings with "raiz" in it.. Could anyone tell me some commen sayings with "raiz" in spanish? and what they mean in english?

Raiz is a root word (LOL) which literally means root.
The phrase mentioned above if translated in american english would be to nip the problem in the bud. hope this helps.
