Hola chicos,
Within the framework of the progress of the statism in the second half of the 1940 decade. Muchas gracias. Se que tambine podria simplificarlo y decir : in the year 1945. |

Diego,
Your translation is nearly perfect. Here in the US you would usually see "in the second half of the 1940's". Here the term decade is understood with the use of the apostrophe s. Joel |

Hola Diego y Joel:
Joel is correct..."in the second half of the 1940's" is the best translation. Diego: Do not place "the" in front of statism. You should write "...the progress of statism..." The word "the" is implied in English in this case and is not written. Saludos amigos!

Hola Joel: You are abosolutely right about English being complicated. There are so many rules! "For groups of years, the apostrophe at the end cannot be regarded as necessary, since there is no possibility of misreading. For this reason, most authorities prefer 1960s to 1960's[22] (although the latter is noted by at least one source as acceptable in American usage[23]), and 90s or '90s to 90's or '90's." El apostrofe no siempre significa posesión. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostrophes Use in forming certain plurals

Good point Vincente. Even though I don't like to use Wikipedia as a reference source there are many linguists who would agree. The issue is weather you are referring to a plural number of years or a possessive reference. Being of the older generation we learned it was possessive but many now say it's not; ergo no apostrophe. I think both are still acceptable. Good thread.
