There is a woman that I like quite a lot, but we aren't dating, per se. It's a very ambigous situation. We are both single and spend an awful lot of time together. Things *seem* almost romantic at times, but we are technically just good friends. I can't figure out what's going.
Anyhow, she signed an email this way today... "Tu me caes bien" What does that mean? I have spoken to several native speakers and they all have given me different answers. One felt it was a romantic "I like you" or "I'm falling for you," but other felt it was just a friendly salutation. The woman is of Cuban and Mexican decent if that helps. I'm just hoping to get an idea of where her head is, so that I don't do anything stupid. |

I am sorry to tell you that in Spain this would mean: I like you....but just as friends. It's the typical thing one would say to a man to discourage him.
Why not ask her directly? I think, that's always the best in these cases. There is always a possibility, that she has the same doubts as you and doesn't want to give the impression to be the one to make the first step. so, my advice: ASK HER!!

I agree with exx. She might be a very shy woman and just uses euphemisms to express her feelings as moderately as possible. So I definitely second Exx’s advice.. Ask her directly. If you feel that there is something going on between you two, chances are there is. So why not let it out in the open? Love will find a way !!! Goo Luck

Also remember that even if she only has friendly feelings for you, sometimes friendship is just a tender kiss away from romance (he he)

Why does she say such a thing... "me caes bien"? (Maybe it depends on what she wrote on that e-mail) I'd never say somenthing like this unless I have a reason, because my friend said somenthing funny, or because I found out that we have several things in common... or because what I really mean (and I don't want to say) is that "I like you" but my not sure where we're going. Maybe she's so confused about this situation as you are... If I were you (I suppose you already know you LIKE her), I'd take it easy, I'd try to show I'm interested in being more than a friend, but I wouln't be obvious...
Best of lucks! M.
