Default preguntar una promocion

Wow, I'm already back with another question! Maybe I should start coming around more often and actually ANSWER some of the questions and not just get your advice

But this is hopefully a quick one... I called someone on the phone but he was away and someone else answered it for him. I asked where the other person was and he said "se fue a su mama para preguntar una promocion."

I get all of it until the last word... promocion??? Well, and actually I understand that last word, too, just not in context!
Now I'm thinking it was more likely he said something along the lines of permiso but amongst the giggling and whispering (lol, awkward situation, long story!) it came out sounding like promocion.
But I could hardly stand to miss a learning opportunity so I just wanted to check and see if there is some alternate meaning of promocion of which I am not aware!
And if you're wondering why I didn't just ask him what he meant, it's because he hung up, lol... like I said, awkward situation!

Gah, I always write WAY too much in my posts! Sorry about that and thank you thank you thank you in advance!!!

Hi Laura,

Maybe you misunderstood the last word? it doesn't really make sense in Spanish...
Promoción means "special offer" in certain contexts...

Or maybe misunderstood "preguntar"
"Se fue con su mamá a aprovechar una promoción". Who knows?
