contigo ya que iba con mi novia al lado y estaba un poco incómodo. Por

**I was thinking it would literally mean "mess mental," which would translate into American or British English like I've written above, or it could be referring to troubled thoughts. Either one carries roughly similar connotation.
***I've never seen "novio/novia al lado" before, so I'm not exactly sure about that. I wrote the literal translation. Any suggestions?
