Hello! Will someone be so kind as to give me a few suggestions to translate the expression "wind beneath my wings"? My initial thoughts were "Mi inspiración" or "mi motivo de ser" but it just doesn't sound right to me; I'm sure there's something better out there but I can't seem to come up with it. TIA!

I think it means something more like "my support" or someone I can count on. Maybe "mi apoyo", o "alguien con quien puedo contar". It's just not so poetic.

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for your replies... I don't mean to be picky but I am looking for a more poetic and "romantic" way of translating it. In context, it goes something like: "To "such and such" you are both the wind beneath my wings..." "such and such" being male relatives... so I don't want it to be too icky or cheesy, if you know what I mean... Hate to be such a PIA, but thank you all for your attention. piggy Last edited by piglet1668 : 02-06-2007 at 12:15 PM. |

Hello everyone.
I am new to the forum, just got here. My attention got caught by the "Wind beneath my wings" Although it tends to be a set expression, it is not. So trying to find a poetical meaning might not be good for the future use of the expression. ...eres el viento bajo mis alas, is a great expression in Spanish. It has all the meaning it could take. It is also quite fresh. Literal translation can be a problem, overinterpreted ones, too. Last edited by Mario Joel : 02-26-2007 at 01:22 AM. |
