    Default “tart”, pie” and “quiche”

here in Spain they use 'quiche', as it is a French word perhaps they don't think to translate it. In a smaller shop they may say 'tarta salada', but even on my kid's school lunch menu it says 'quiche'. Between tart (a flat crust with short sides and a filling, normally open-faced) and pie (deeper, often with a top crust concealing the filling) they say 'tarta francesa' and 'tarta americana', or just 'pie'. It is one of those difficult things to translate as the translated object doesn't really exist outside of its first world the same way.
