Default a whale of a place

I would like to know your opinion about this sentence that comes in an advertisement:
" A whale of a place to go"

It is about a candy store where there is a lot of selection of candies. the truth is that it is being hard to translate that sentence.
I think it could mean something like "Un lugar genial para visitar"

Default Re: a whale of a place

They had a whale of a time.

It was a whale of a show.

We had a whale of a storm.

Significa algo grande, especial o espectacular!
