Default Waslis

Hi everyone, I would like your help to translate this. I found this sentence and I'm not sure if the word in bold is a kind of slang: What waslis your teacher?

Thanks for your comments...

¿No será una barra en vez de una ele?

"What was/is your teacher?" en vez de "What waslis your teacher?"

Es una barra si quieres hablar de los 2 tiempos verbales.

Maybe it's too late to make a comment, but I find it quite strange the use of "what" in this sentence. Shouldn't it be "who"?
