Thread: Husbands of/by one wife - ¡Ayuda!

Mi nombre es Yejezquel soy nuevo en el foro, y estoy traduciendo un libro pro poligamia, Bíblico. El problema es que me tope con una oración que dice "Husbands of/by one wife"

La traducción con la palabra "of" sería:

"Maridos DE una esposa"

Pero el problema es que no se como traducir "Husbands BY one wife"

Porque "Maridos "POR" una mujer" no tiene sentido en el español.

Por favor, alguien que me ayude!

I agree with Sandra---we need context. This can't be translated into Spanish until its meaning in English is clear. Is of/by two separate concepts or two ways of saying the same thing? Are we talking about wives who are married to more than one man?

Nooo soy traductora! Husbands of/by one wife, es una frase que sería mejor verla en un contexto. Si pudieras ofrecernos una oración completa o un parrafito para encuadrarla mejor, tal vez seamos más los que podamos ayudarte. Desde mi ignorancia, tal como lo veo yo, podría traducirse también como Maridos de una sola Esposa, o como solemos decir "hombres de una sola mujer", aunque esta última hace referencia a la fidelidad, pero no garantiza la ausencia de poligamia...Esperamos el parrafito?

First Timothy 3:
1 This is a true saying, if a man desires the office of a teaching-overseer, or elder, he desires a good work.
2 A teaching overseeing elder then must be blameless, the husband of/by one wife, vigilant, sober, of a good behavior, given to hospitality, able to teach;

1 Tim. 3:2-The Aramaic reads: b'khada antatah (literally by one wife). In other words, he must have at least one, or else as a single man he would be open to the vilest of temptations. Since we know the New Testament can NEVER contradict Torah, this MUST be the meaning! Paul has NO AUTHORITY whatsoever to change YHWH’s laws. But the good news is, do not fret. He didn’t and merely confirmed that male Yisraelite leaders had to be married!

Lo que el autor está tratando de decirnos es que alguien que se dedica a laborar como pastor debe de ser "marido de/BY una esposa" Pero no de una esposa como número UNO sino que como alguna, que por lo menos tenga una esposa. Talvez entendiendo esto me puedan ayudar más a traducir "husband by one wife"

Ah por cierto "Toráh es una palabra hebrea, que es el nombre dado a los primeros cinco libros de la Biblia, solo se los digo para que no se confundan"

I have done considerable work with biblical text. This is a a place where the word "de" expresses well both intentions, of and by. So "esposo (marido) de una sola mujer" is a faithful rendering.
