    Default MORE grammar help?

    The English:
They used to say that the old house on the corner of Roble Street was haunted. Of course, everybody in the neighborhood believed these rumors. It was an ugly, wooden house and it had two floors. It was painted grey. The windows were always closed but one could see the darkness inside through the big cracks in the wood.
One day, I decided to go into the house because of a silly bet. As I was entering the front door, the floor creaked beneath my feet. Large spider webs hung from the walls and the ceiling. The furniture and the paintings were covered with dust. I wondered if anyone was inside. "Was anyone living in this house?"
Suddenly, I heard a noise. A door to the right was opening slowly. My heart was beating hard. I was so afraid that I could not move. An old man appeared in the doorway. He was a short, stout man, with long, grey hair. He had a long, curly beard that reached down to his chest and he wore glasses. He looked at me with disbelief.
"Young man, what are you doing in my house?"--He asked. Surprisingly, his voice was calm and kind. Perhaps we were mistaken. There were no ghosts here. Our neighbor was a normal man, living in a strange house.

    The spanish:

Me preguntaba si alguien estaba dentro.

No hubo fantasmas aquí.
