Default building blocks?

Hello, I just registered and could use some help!

Here are some phrases that I would appreciate your assistance with:

1. "we provide the building blocks to..."

2. "a welcoming environment"

3. The Association of Greater Richmond

Thanks! I hope I can help you at some point!

Thank you for the quick reply. some comments...

1-I am not usingbuilding blocks in the literal sense of constructing, but rather as in "we provide the building blocks to thriving and succeeding."

3-Would Asociacion del Gran Richmond be acceptable? I am not opposed to translating the proper name. Is Gran + city the equivalent of Greater + city?

How about this-
Les proveemos los pasos necesarios para la prosperidad y el exito.

And.......

La Asociasion de Greater Richmond (Gran Richmond doesn't sound right to my ears and eyes).

Maybe another member has better input?

Hope I was able to help some!

Hi everyone!

I think this could be an option for number 1: "Le proporcionamos/brindamos las bases fundamentales para el éxito y el progreso".

Kane's option for number 2 seems great.

I would not translate the name of the association. However, if you provide more context, Cantinflas, we could analyze the treatment of the term in this particular case.

Hope it helps!

Thank you, Guadalupe and Dragona. I think I am most pleased with Guadalupe's translation for #1, Kane's translation for #2, and unsure about #3.

More context on #3. The organization is the YMCA of Greater Richmond. As you may know, the Y is an international organization, and I have seen the proper name YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) translated to (Asociacion Cristiana de Jovenes) on many of the Y websites in Latin America. I don't have a problem going with "La YMCA del Gran Richmond" if in fact "Gran + city" is a common way of describing a metropolitan area.

Thoughts?

Thank you all!

PS How do I add appropriate accents, etc. on this site?

Although you cannot always trust Wikipedia, this site may help: es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richmond_(Virginia).

I haven't found relevant or related sites in Spanish which use "Great Richmond" in English. The few sites I came accross prefer the use of "Gran Richmond".

I would then go for "la YMCA de Gran Richmond". I think it's not necessary to add the article there (del = de EL). You wouldn't say "la YMCA de *la Nueva York", but "la YMCA de Nueva York".
