    Default obscurants???

hi!. i'm in the middle of a translation and I have trouble with this word, Ijust don't know how to put it. I've looked for it in the dictionary and nothing. In the same text there's the definition..

obscurants. means fog oil released into the atmosphere during military exercises which produces a smoke screen designed to eliminate the detection of persons or objects by visual or electronic means of observation within a localized area.

and it comes in this context. (it is a text about air pollution)

The use of obscurants for the purpose of training military personnel and the testing of militaryequipment by the United States Department of Defense on any military reservation.

so, if you could help me find the right term for "obscurants", it would be great!..

    thanks a lot!

    Hi rchl!

I have looked for this term, but I can't find it. It's really difficult, I guess, unless you are in the military corps.

I found "oscurantes" for fabric treatment, and "cortina de humo" or "pantalla de humo", but that's it!!

    Hi Veronica:

This is tough. I think that rchl is looking for the name or term for the oil, or chemical, that produces the fog or smokescreen and not the smokescreen itself. So would it be some sort of aceite, o química, o compuesto, o algo que contiene los ingredientes that causes the smoke or air pollution?

Encontré algunos ejemplos en estos Glosarios Militares. El segundo es un documento de Word Sp/En. Te dejo los links para que lo verifiques vos mismo.
