Default Thanks a bunch

Hello!
It's about the expression "Thanks a bunch" Is it sarcastic? What's the most usual use of this expression?

Thanks in advance!

Have a look on wordreference...

It can be sarcastic. It depends on the situation.
From what I read, with friends and in non-formal situation, you can use it. There's no problem. But in formal situation, better not to use it.

Hope I've been helpful...

Thanks for the info kainu!
I'm looking for english-natives opinion about this. How you use this expression in everyday life. Dictionaries are useful (I've already serch there), but sometimes natives can be more helpful than a book.

Regards,

Regards,

Hi mem286.

OK, thanks a bunch in the U.S. is an informal way of saying thank you very much.

It is not sarcastic. It is a friendly way to say thanks. It is only sarcastic if said in a sarcastic tone of voice. It ranks with thanks a lot!, thanks loads!, thanks tons!

It is most commonly used where a favor is done and you wish to say Thank you!! enthusiatiscally.

vicente
