Yesterday I requested a translation for the following.
I miss you so much I can barely breath. My heart aches to see you again. Please keep in touch whenever possible. I love you so much. Can I continue to write you at this address? I received this: Te extraño tanto que casi no puedo respirar. Me muero por volver a verte y, si es posible mantenernos en contacto. Te amo mucho. ¿Puedo seguir escribiéndote a esta dirección? My spanish is terrible but I don't think he understands it. Here is his response... AMOR MIO,ESTOY MUY CONTENTO DE HABER RECIBIDO TU MENSAJE ,CONTESTAME EN ESPAÑOL SI TE ES POSIBLE ,PUES NO ENTENDI EL CORREO QUE ME ENVIASTE. BESOS DE TU AMOR QUE NUNCA TE OLVIDA Maybe its the words I chose? Sometimes it can get lost or confusing in translation right? |

I agree with Moni, however the only confusion I can see is "y, si es posible mantenernos en contacto". You might want to tell him that "por favor, mandame mensajes y mails cuando tienes tiempo" or something along those lines. For me, that is a little more succinct in this context.

Is Cuban spanish a little different perhaps?
I really appreciate your imput by the way. I am so overwhelmed right now. I want to say so much but can't. When we are together we talk a bit and then stare at each other once and while, shrug and laugh. |

I have no familiarity with Cuban Spanish unfortunately, but I imagine it has its own unique flavors and expressions, etc. I have been in a few situations where there is no "language" shared, but the communication is strong...if that makes sense. If you have time, you two can learn the languages and also learn how to understand each other. Those situations are fantastic. Best of luck! |

No problem at all and good luck! Remember, a smile is more important than any words...
