Does anyone know what that word means in Spanish?
It comes from a sentence that speaks about someone who learns with effeor, then a plodder, then average mental and brilliant exceptional. I can't seem to find it in the dictionary. Thanks a lot. Merryl |

The translation of "plodder" into Spanish is:
"el que trabaja asidua y laboriosamente", i.e. someone who works diligently, a hard-working person. Hope this helps. Nira ![]() |

No estoy de acuerdo con la respuesta de Nira. La definición en inglés hace énfasis en avance lento, no en ser laborioso.
plod [plod] intransitive verb (past and past participle plod·ded, present participle plod·ding, 3rd person present singular plods) 1. walk heavily: to walk with a slow heavy tread 2. work slowly but steadily: to work slowly but steadily, especially on something uninteresting or laborious |

Estoy de acuerdo con Hugocar... lento pero perseverante, esa es la idea. Fijate en la segunda definición. Suerte!
From the FREE online Dictionary: PLOD: v. plod·ded, plod·ding, plods v.intr. 1. To move or walk heavily or laboriously; trudge: "donkeys that plodded wearily in a circle round a gin" D.H. Lawrence. 2. To work or act perseveringly or monotonously; drudge: plodding through a mountain of paperwork. v.tr. To trudge along or over. n. 1. The act of moving or walking heavily and slowly. 2. The sound made by a heavy step. [Perhaps imitative.] plod der n.plod ding·ly adv.

Thanks everyone. Because of the sentence and the form that I'm trying to translate and also because of where the word 'Plodder' is being used, I believe it is referring to someone who is intently trying to accomplish something but slowly. Thanks again. This really helps.
Man, I'm so glad I found this site. This is my first time using a forum like this, my husband who use them frequently suggested I join because I was having such a hard time translating this document (almost pulling my hair out!). I'm so glad I was the little wife who listend! This is awesome. Thanks a million for everyone's help. |
