Good day everyone! I need help with the following text:

"For it is in passing that we achieve immortality. Through this, we become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all. Infinite in distance and unbound by death, I release your soul, and by my shoulder, protect thee."

Context: Its some sort of creed mentioned while unlocking someones powers in a series.

Now I can translate 80% of the text. But I'm having problems with the beginning and the end. Specifically, with the "For it is in passing that we achieve immortality" and "by my shoulder, protect thee".
The first one I take it has something to do with passing as in passing away? Like, we achieve immortality once we are gone or something like that. All translators in the internet take it as "De paso" but it doesn't feels right.
Now, "by my shoulder, protect thee". I think protect thee could be translated to "He de protegerte" o "te protegere" but "by my shoulder" isn't literal (I guess?) so I take it means something like "En mis capacidades, yo he de protegerte"?

Its kinda poetic and I'm sure there isn't an exact translation, so approximations are welcome.
Anyway, thanks for your time!
