    Question Help with some words

    From this paragraph:

There are patterns of behavior that tend to indicate an impending life event. Looking for an apartment and working on your resume and upgrading from kegs of swill to four-pack microbrews, for example, might establish that someone is graduating. If your product or service could help someone at this stage in your life, your advertising to them is a mutually beneficial proposition.

I need to know what does this part of the paragraph means:

upgrading from kegs of swill to four-pack microbrews, for example, might establish that someone is graduating

College students drink a lot of (kegs) of cheap beer (swill).

So if you stop drinking so much beer and start drinking only four bottles of quality microbrew (upgrade); look for an apartment and a job (work on your resume), then this "pattern of behavior" would probably indicate that you are about to graduate from college ("an impending life event").

Hi vicente! What does "swill" mean? That's a word I had never heard before. How would you translate it in Spanish?

    Hi nabylm:

    Official definition of swill is

1 : something suggestive of slop or garbage.

    2. a semiliquid food for animals (such as swine) composed of edible refuse mixed with water or skimmed or sour milk; garbage

It is also a verb meaning to drink.

In this context it means cheap beer that tastes terrible.

I'll leave it to a native to translate it in Spanish but it is something like bazofia o basura.

    Got it!
Something like "basura" or "porquería". I heard "bodrio" is used in Spain too.
