Default Help required translating some dialogue for free serial book

    Hi there,

I'm writing a series on Wattpad and two of my characters are currently in Mexico. One speaks Spanish - the author however does not....
I can't be sure using the online tools that I've got it correct so wondering if someone could please help.
The dialogue I'd like to write in Spanish is:

    I have a break soon

    Take it now

    How much money is this?

    I'm not a prostitute

    I know

Thanks to anyone who reads and helps me with this.

If you want to check out the book on Wattpad it's called The Girls by Rachel Mackie.

    Thanks again!

Hey RachelDowning, how are you doing?
I'm also a Wattpad writter... But my books are far from finished

Ok, lets go to the translation stuff...

On this first one, I'll need you to especify a little bit more with the meaning you want to give to "break", could you?

    I have a break soon /

    Take it now
    /¡Agarralo!

    How much money is this?
    /¿Cuanto cuesta esto?

    I'm not a prostitute
    /No soy una prostituta.

    I know
    /Lo se.

Anything else you need, just ask.

    Oh...

And to clear out a thing. In this forum most of the users are translators, that means that they charge for their work.
You'll have no problem if it is something short like this, but for something larger you might not get an answer.

    Hi Matiasc!

Another Wattpad writer! Awesome. Do you post in English or Spanish? Would love to look up some of your work.

Thank you so much for replying and translating. And for pointing out that the site is for professional services. Missed that banner so obvious at the top of the page... Can I credit you in the serialization for these translations?

Re. Context of scene in The Girls
One character is working behind a bar. The other is a customer wanting her company. She agrees to go with him and says 'I have a break soon.' He replies 'Take it now.'
At the moment I have her saying: Tengo un descanso pronto.

There won't be any more Spanish translations until the next book in the series. They will be more numerous and I will definitely pay for those!

Thanks again for all your help,
    RachelDowning

    Hahaha no problem!!
I write in spanish, sorry :P

Ok, then in that context you have the right translation.

If you take "break" as a rest time it'll suit perfectly that you translate it to "descanso".

What Iḿ goin to change from what I post earlier is the Take it now = Agarralo
It will look better by changing it to Take it now = Tomalo ahora / Usalo ahora

If you have any further question, be welcome to post it here.

    Saludos!

Hi Rachel! also "break" as in "taking a break" is widely used across spanish speaking countries as is, meaning, you could use "Tomar un descanso" as matiasc correctly said, or, "Tomar un break" as well. Cheers!

    RE:

How much money is this? /¿Cuanto cuesta esto?

I'm not clear on this question and this might or might not be the correct translation for "How much money is this?" If the question refers to the cost of something, although it is an unusual way of asking, then it is correct.

However, if the question refers to the value of a quantity of money then it would be "¿Cuanto dinero es esto?"

I agree with you Vicente, we would need more context in terms of providing accure support on each phrase/word.
If the question is not related to the cost of something, I think the proper translation would be "Cuánto dinero es esto"....but again, we need context. Cheers!

After talking a bit with RachelDowning I think that the question was directed to a bartender to ask about the cost of her services as a prostitute.
