    Cool "Over the wire" translate

    Hi folks!

    What could be the meaning of expression "over the wire" in this context? :

    "was dining with Marcuse at the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station when Christopher Koch of Pacifica Radio and WBAI joined them with word of Baran’s death, which had just come over the wire"

    Si, es UK inglés o tal vez U. S. inglés desde c. los 1900s y "wire" = telégrafo y "wireless" = radio...pero el telefono, no creo
