I writing a letter to a child that I am sponsoring in Colombia and wanted to make sure that I have used proper grammar. I would really appreciate your input. I have put the english equivalent in parenthesis of what I was trying to write in spanish.

Letter below:

Estuve muy feliz recibir tu carta. (I was so happy to get your letter.) Me encant� oir de tu sue�o de ser m�dica y ayudar a tantos ni�os. (I loved hearing about your dream of becoming a doctor and helping many children) �Que maravilloso sue�o! (What a wonderful dream!) Se que vas a ser la mejor m�dica en todo Colombia. (I know that you will be the best doctor in all of Colombia)

Este fin de semana uno de mis tres hijos, David, est� jugando en un torneo de futbol. (This weekend one of my 3 sons, David, is playing in a soccer tournament) �l tiene 13 a�os y le gusta el f�tbol mucho. (He is 13 years old and likes soccer a lot) Espero que su equipo gane. (I hope his team wins) Yo jugaba el f�tbol cuando era joven pero ahora solo soy fan�tico. (I used to play soccer when I was young but now I am only a fan) �Soy demasiado viejo (tengo 39 anos)! (I am too old [I�m 39])

�C�mo es el tiempo estos d�as en Quibd�? (What is the weather like these days in Quibdo) �Hace calor? (Is it warm?) No conozco el tiempo donde vives. (I am not familiar with the weather where you live) Aqui en el sur de California las temperaturas ya son casi en los ochentas F (Here in Southern California the temperatures are already in the 80s)

Manda saludos a tu familia. (Say hi to your family) Pensando en ti cada d�a y siempre est�s en mis oraciones. (Thinking of you each day and you are always in my prayers) Dios te bendiga. (God bless you)

hi, i hope my reply can still help you. i only have 2 things to suggest you. 1� you shouldnt use the word "tiempo", instead put "clima"
2� at the end of the letter, as its kind of informal and personal you could end it like this " Un gran abrazo, cuidate mucho" meaning big hug and take care.

1) Al mencionar la temperatura que hace ya en el sur de California, para facilitar la comprensi�n del lector, deber�as usar la escala de Celcius. 80 grados Farenheit equivalen a unos 27 cent�grados.

2) Me uno al comentario de unos de los compa�eros, usar�a CLIMA en lugar de TIEMPO, recordemos que el lector es un ni�o; tiempo s� es usada en latinoam�rica, pero en un contexto un poco m�s formal.
