Language Barrier is Nearly Broken After the Translation Software Revolution
I am afraid many people are now preferring software programs for English to Spanish translation instead of human translation, in my view new technology is killing hundreds of thousands of translator jobs! However, I am making good amount as an English to Spanish translator but still this fear shakes me up!
Re: Language Barrier is Nearly Broken After the Translation Software Revolution
I am not sure that a computer program will ever be able to translate the many variances in the definitions of words and the subtleties of either language. Perhaps in some areas such as legal, medical, business, etc. where precise language and translations have been established, but not in literature and other writings that require insight into the mind and interpretation of context, thought and intent of the writer.

I am not a professional translator but I think you do not need to be afraid. Machines are never going to replace good service.

Don't worry, machines can't make decisions, neither can they think!

There will always be information/content to be translated or simply post-edited by human linguists. The point is that globalization is creating terabytes constantly increasing in volumes. Don't be afraid about MT! There will always be needs for different workflows. :)
