    Default Vueltero

    Hi People,

How Can I say "Vueltero" ? This is a word we often use in my country to describe someone who is kind of difficult to deal with; can't take a decision quickly and go over it for a while, always finds obstacles when something is proposed, etc.
Hope you can get the idea of "vueltero"

    Thanks

How about "he's a "pain in the a**" ... just kidding.

I imagine you are looking for a slang term, right?

Offhand, the only slang that comes to mind is "wet blanket", i.e., someone who is generally dis-satisfied with whatever is proposed, but that term is mostly applied in a friendlier, non-insulting way. EX: "Ah, don't mind John. He's a wet blanket. He finds fault with everything."

Non-slang and more aggressive terms might be "cynic" or "obstructionist".

    Hi Vicente!
Well, wet blanket is the phrase that would apply the best. Yet it's not exactly what I mean. The word VUELTERO is not aggressive and as you said "a friendlier way" to refer to someone who is like this. I think there must be a slang for that. By now, a "difficult person" is the most accurate word. I'll go on searching and If something comes up, I'll tell you.
    Thanks Vicente!!!

Hi diegonel!! Maybe pessimist? It isn't slang but a pessimist is certainly difficult and always sees the negative side of everything.

Also: naysayer; skeptic; doubter; doubting Thomas; killjoy; sourpuss; worrywart; grinch; grouch; crepehanger (although not many would know what this means: a person who expects bad outcome).

Gotta be a word for vueltero somewhere!

    Hi Vicente,
Thanks for your effort to help me but I'm sorry to say that the adjectives you gave me do not refer to vueltero. However I have learnt a couple of them, like SOURPUSS AND WORRYWART

Vicente, beyond the Slang that might exist, the meaning is indecesive, that's the word

look! here is an example of a vueltero

    - Let's go dancing
el vueltero: - mm, I'm not sure, it's too lale, and i have to get up early tomorrow.
    - ok, next time so.
Vueltero: yeah, but I was thinkng that if we come early and sb. can give me a ride home when we go out of the disco....
    - Ok, call Juan who has a car.
vueltero: I'm not sure , he drives too fast, and I hate that.
    - well , take a taxi
vueltero: yeah , the point is that taxis are very expensive and I don't feel safe taking a taxi
    - you can share it with someone else
    vueltero : I don't know! I'll see

Surely this guy will never go dancing.

    Get it, Vicente??
