    Default hog caller

Can sbdy translate "hog caller" for me?

    Thank you.

I wanted to become member of a club... They discovered that they had no hog caller in the club and invited me in that category.

This is what I found for you, not the translation, but what it means.. sounds mean.. but its all I got:
Hog callin, also known as "hoggin", is when a group of friends go to the bar and each make a wager on who can bring home the fattest woman. Documented proof is required for judging the next day. Pictures, stolen underwear, etc. anything that can prove you slept with her and gives an indication of her size.

I found the sentence in a book about humour written by a protestant pastor. So it may be harsh but not so mean.

    Thank you.

Sorry it took me so long to reply; I have been kind of busy. Anyways...

A hog caller is what I would translate as a llamador de jabalies. (Although some people would call them llamador de cerdos salvajes.)

Hog calling is the ability to successfully imitate the sounds made by hogs. Hog calling can serve a purpose in the call of swine to dinner (or, in the case of Arkansas Razorbacks fans, showing support for their home team :-) ) but it is usually only performed recreationally.

Periodically, certain events, particularly county fairs in regions known for the raising of pigs, will hold hog calling contest, in which a panel of judges rates contestants on their mimicry ability.

How does one become a good Hog Caller? One would have to watch the hogs, study their actions, see what they respond to, what attracts them, and then use that to emulate them.

    Greetings,

    Xóchitl

Based on my dear Xótchi's explanation and on the kind of book where solfinker found the phrase, I think that the pastor was making a parallel between the congregation and the hogs. That's the punch line of the joke. It has nothing to do with real hog-calling.
