Unhappy Song ¿Word in latin or in english?

Hi everybody, I am translating a song called Vultures. It says:
"Breathing life into these mares where enemies turn into flesh"
I think that I hav not found a good translation for it. The main problem is the word "mares" since this band sometimes uses words in latin. As a result, i believe that it could have more than one translation. These are the ones I have made:
    1. mares= a female horse
"Dar/Dando vida a estas yeguas donde los enemigos se convierten en carne"
    2. mares= short for nightmares
"Dar/Dando vida a estas pesadillas donde los enemigos se convierten en carne"
    3. mares (latín)= sea
""Dar/Dando vida a estos océanos donde los enemigos se convierten en carne""
What do you think? May one of these be correct? Maybe none of them is right and you might help me.
I would really apreciate your help. Thanks

    Maxi

Give more context (more lines of the lyrics) to have more elements to try to interpret the word in question.

Hi, considering it reads about vultures, enemies and flesh - none of which are particularly nice - I would be tempted to go with:

    2. mares= short for nightmares
"Dar/Dando vida a estas pesadillas donde los enemigos se convierten en carne"

... pero claro, sin saber el contexto en total, es un poco difícil decirte más que eso.

    Espero haberte ayudado!

Hi Cotty, thanks for answering. This is the rest of the song

Breathing life into these mares where enemies turn into flesh
This is the abyss I fear the most – I feel their eyes staring at me

Waiting with carnivorous patience, their memory timeless
For all they know I must succumb sometime…

A solemn cry rises to the sky as heavy wings blacken out
The morning sun with infinite darkness. Am I dreaming or am I dead?

In search for my heart – Lost in this hell
The vultures are soaring above – Tearing me apart

Screaming Voices in my head. A sudden pain then deadly silence
Devouring the remains of my heart – I can feel it dying

Picking at the bones of my soul
    Left me dead inside
The more I gave the more they took
    Left me dead inside

    Hope it helps

Susie123, I had not seen your answer, sorry :P

Thanks, I am leaning towards chosing that option, too. I have already posted the rest of the song, so it may help.

Hi! I know this song, by Arch Enemy.
I think it is best translated as short for nightmares because mares in latin actually means men.

Hi everybody, thanks a lot for your help

Marielaer, I was not sure about the meaning of the word. I wrote it on the google translator and, in fact, i t translated it as men. Then i I looked it up in the dictionary but I could not find it. I only found "mare" and I suppose that "mares" was a sort of Hibrid, "mare" in latin and "-s", plural in english. I'm glad you know the song
Well, I think that is it, I will consider it as short for nightmare.

As a way of saying thanks, I will leave here my translation of the whole song, although I am sure it has some mistakes :P

    Arch Enemy - Vultures

    Arch Enemy - Buitres
