    Default Talking about holidays

Can people please help me by telling me whether this is the correct translation...

A few weeks ago I went on vacation with my parents and we flew to Barcelona and stayed for the weekend. The weather was great, something that I prefer since I hate winter. We visited friends who live there and they cooked for us every evening. I found it was wonderful being able to taste proper Spanish food.

    Saludos

Hola ash.coral also, my suggestion would be to change "El tiempo fue estupendo, cosa que prefiero ya que odio el invierno." to: "El tiempo estuvo estupendo, cosa que prefiero ya que odio el invierno" or " El clima estuvo estupendo, cosa que prefiero ya que odio el invierno" since it also sounds more natural. The word "tiempo" is a little ambiguous but it would depend on what flavor of Spanish you're using.

    Hope it helps!

My most natural and native perspective of the text:
    Best wishes and good luck!

Your translation is correct and good. Below is my version which I find it reads better and is slightly less literal.

A few weeks ago I went on vacation with my parents and we flew to Barcelona and stayed for the weekend. The weather was great, something that I prefer since I hate winter. We visited friends who live there and they cooked for us every evening. I found it was wonderful being able to taste proper Spanish food.

Me pareció fantástico poder comer auténtica comida española.

That doesn't sound very natural to me. In Spanish we seldom say cocinar la cena, we favor preparar/hacer la cena/comida. Also, every evening translates better as todas las noches since cada noche is more specifically each night. (Not saying that you can't translate every night as cada noche, but this would be when you wanted to talk about each night separately.)
