I'm working on a rather personally important painting and I was hoping to finish it out with a sentence in fancy script. I didn't want to use a English to French dictionary because I feel like it would be stiff and not really doing the language justice. So I was hoping that I could be told how to write and say it the way a French speaking person would normally say it or, even better, in a lyrical poetic sort of way. I would appreciate it very very much if someone could help me.
The sentence is : Heaven forgive me Never forbid me I'm afraid it might be an american idiom but I really hope not. Thanks again. |

how about :
Que Dieu me pardonne, jamais ne m'abandonne... I would say "Dieu" rather than "Le ciel" and "abandonner" literally means : to leave behind, to forsake. Amicalement, Frank. ![]()

Thank you very much!
But can I ask, out of pure curiosity, what is the difference between "Dieu" and "Le ciel"? The dictionary says 'God' and 'Sky'. ^_^ Last edited by Cruel_Hero : 06-11-2009 at 11:20 AM. |

God = Dieu
Le ciel = Heaven of course, "le ciel" sometimes means "the sky", but not in this case... kindest regards, Frank. ![]()
