    Default Fiancé or Fiancée?

Are these spellings interchangeable? Do they mean the same: a person who's engaged to marry?

Or maybe one makes reference to an engaged woman and the other to an engaged man -in which case, which is which?

a man engaged to be married : le fiancé
a woman engaged to be married : la fiancée

feminine usually takes an extra "e"
even in a name like René, girl's name : Renée
