shoulder nut
Place the drive hub onto the compressor shaft and install the shoulder nut.
Ese es el contexto...no encuentro "shoulder nut" en ninguna parte... Gracias al que me ayude. |

Rodrigo, nut puede ser tuerca, lo que no comprendo es la forma de la tuerca, en forma de "shoulder". Quizás en español sea lo conocemos como forma de codo pues el hombro es así en esa forma también??? tuerca en forma de codo?
Es común escuchar un codo para esto o lo otro y se refiere a un tubo acodado con rosca en un extremo. Ojalá pudiera ser de más ayuda.

I'm not a mechanic, but I've certainly not heard of a "shoulder nut". My guess is that it's a nut that has a broad base, rim, or flange around one edge. This would give the nut more contact on the washer.
The magazine Popular Mechanics used to have a very nice, inexpensive technical dictionary. Clearly it was to accompany the English language edition so that Spanish speakers could understand the articles more easily. If you are going to be working with such translations, it may be a good idea to see if the dictionary is still available. By the way, did you check a Duden's Pictorial Dictionary? It has an amazing vocabulary. |

Me alegra que ya hayas encontrado la definición. Si, suena como eso, con un reborde. Necesitamos un mecánico por aquí...
